Despite a lost hole win for Ian Veale & Alan Lieske in the lead pairing against Billy Downing & Darren Booker the 'A' Team of Tehidy Park eventually lost an epic encounter to defending champions Truro, by a score of 2 – 1 in the semi-final.
With John Piner & Colin George losing on the 15th hole to County Champion, Tom Murtagh & partner Alex Boyd the outcome rested on the match between brothers Richard & Peter Simmons, who were pitted against George Champion & Jack Mewton.
With the game poised at 'all square' as they approached the 18th green, Champion faced a 6 foot putt for Par as Richard Simmons stood over an 8 foot Par attempt.
Advantage Tehidy as Simmons holed his putt, but Champion stood up to the challenge as he also holed out. Extra holes ensued, and when Mewton narrowly missed his birdie attempt on the 19th it was now the turn of Peter Simmons to have to hole a 5 foot putt to extend the match, which he safely negotiated.
To the 2nd extra hole and when Richard Simmons holed his 6 foot Par putt, Champion again followed his lead to extend the game to the 21st.
Champion found the green at the Par 3, 3rd hole, but sadly for Tehidy Richard was to leave his approach shot short of the putting green, and with a safe two putt for Par Truro advanced to the final.
The final was to be a repeat of the 2009 encounter, as Newquay defeated Trevose in the days other semi-final, and the result of the final was also to be a repeat as Truro prevailed by a score of 2 – 1.
