CTC PLATE (28 Nov)

 Dear Sirs

CTC and CTC Plate – 28 November 2010

With reference to Sundays CTC and CTC Plate matches I have been asked to clarify the procedure in the event of possible frost or  weather conditions that prevent or delay the playing of matches.

As at today (26/11) all the matches are scheduled to go ahead and teams are asked to travel to the venues as normal unless there is confirmation from the host club prior to the start that the course has been closed and will not reopen for the day.

In the event of the course reopening after the start of the match has been delayed the CGU Competition Committee have issued the following directive:

In the CTC, if it is not possible to complete both Foursomes and Singles matches due to light then the Foursomes and 9th Man should be played and the Singles will be rescheduled for another day at the same venue. If it is not possible to complete the Foursomes and 9th Man matches due to light then whole game will be abandoned and rescheduled.

In the case of the CTC Plate the match should commence if there is enough daylight to complete all 9 singles.

In the event of frost or bad weather on the day the decision as to whether the course is closed or fit for play will be taken by either the Head Greenkeeper, Club Secretary/Manager or Club representative, who will also decide the time a course will reopen should conditions improve. I would ask that all teams are patient in this aspect as none of us can predict the weather and it may result in the unfortunate scenario where teams have to wait at a club for a decision on the course reopening until it is agreed that there is not enough daylight remaining to complete a series of games.

Consideration also has to given to the safety aspect of when travelling to the course. In the event of adverse weather conditions on the day if a team feels it is not safe to travel on the roads please contact me as soon as possible to discuss the situation.

I will be contactable all day on Sunday on my mobile 07811930426 if required.

Let’s hope the weather will be kind to us on Sunday!
