Tehidy Park commenced their defence of the ’A’ Team Club Championship with a win over Falmouth, albeit they didn’t have everything all their own way as some might have expected !
Richard & Peter Simmons got the team off to a winning start with a victory on the 16th hole, but there was a slight ’hiccup’ in match two as the young pairing of Thomas Rowe & Justin Barnard fell to the experienced pair of Dave Holland & Richie Perrin, before order was restored by yesterdays winning Cornwall Goblets pairing, Andrew Clotworthy & Ian Veale (13th hole).
Tehidy’s next opponents would be Newquay, who accounted for Mullion in the morning. The afternoon quarter-final proved to be more comfortable for the defending champions as they surged to a 3-0 score-line.
Rowe & Barnard won on the 14th hole, with the Simmons brothers claiming their second point of the day, this time on the 15th hole, before Clotworthy & Veale secured the white-wash with a one-hole victory.
The stage is set tomorrow for two monumental semi-finals as Tehidy take on hosts, St. Enodoc, and Perranporth have the opportunity to avenge their CTC Final defeat as they once again take on Trevose.
