The first round of the Championship commenced with favourite, and number one seed, Joe Cruse taking on Tehidy Park member Justin Barnard. Cruse exhibited why he has the tag of favourite, beating Justin on the 13th hole.
Andrew Clotworthy also struggled in his first round match, losing out to Nick Gammon of Trevose by a score of 4&3.
There was better news for the remaining Tehidy Park qualifiers, as Richard Simmons defeated Alex Glover of St. Mellion on the 18th, with brother Peter beating Richard Jasper of Launceston by the same score-line. Ian Veale completed the trio recording a victory over Carl Burley, the number two seed, on the 17th hole.
In the afternoon second round matches Richard Simmons was pitted against Antony Nash of St. Enodoc, with Nash eventually running out the winner on the 17th hole.
Peter Simmons emerged victorious against Lawrie Bridges of Bude, but only after a titanic battle saw him win on the second extra hole (20th).
Ian Veale played Jon Coleman, a repeat of the quarter-final match from 2008. Fortunately for Veale he reversed his fortunes of 2008, this time beating Coleman on the 13th hole.
With just two Tehidy players remaining (P. Simmons & Veale) fate has dealt a cruel blow as they will now play each other in the quarter-final on Friday morning.
