Sadly we have just learned of the loss of Peter Coad
and our thoughts go out to Angela and her family at
this very difficult time. Peter’s cheerful presence will
be missed by everyone at Tehidy Park.
NOVEMBER ROUND-UP
November started with our monthly medal on
Tuesday 5th but the weather made the going difficult
with scores to match. However some ladies fared
better and the Captains’ Society Millennium Qualifier
which ran in conjunction produced a winner in Carol
Ryder.
The following day saw the last of the Away Days for
this year, 12 ladies went to Woodbury Park and had
a great day’s golfing. For some this was their first visit
to Woodbury and everyone agreed it was a super
course. Hopefully more away days will be organised
next year.
The Trelista Mixed Foursomes Cups were played for
on Sunday 10th and again the weather played a part
giving us mizzly conditions for most of the day.
Winning the Cups were Linda and Peter Toy with 35
pts, a fitting end to their weekend as they were
celebrating their forthcoming 40th wedding
anniversary. 2nd place went to Dick and Sue Rogers
35 pts and 3rd Paul and Caroline Phillips 33 pts. The
winners of the Odd Couples were Jenny Hamilton
and David Hughes 38 pts, 2nd Pat MacMichael and
Paul Caddy, 3rd Shirley Clark and Nigel James 33 pts
and 4th Liz Plechowicz and Bob Cope 33 pts.
The fun competition on Tuesday 12th was a drawn
competition over 13 holes, a stableford with 3 scores
to count on 1-4, two scores on 4-8 and one score on
9-13. In 1st place were Wendy Williams , Kathy Mann
and Penny Allan, 2nd Chris Williams, Anne Fitzhenry
and Chris Garrett and 3rd Lyn Brookes, Rosemary
Wedlock and Pat Murton.
The first round of the Dawe Cups was held on
Saturday 23rd. The temporary greens that were in
operation due to frosty conditions at the start of the
day were fortunately lifted in time for the matches to
go ahead.
Tuesday 26th was a 13 hole Greensomes competition,
the day was fine and dry and even sunny for a short
time with only one temporary green. The winners
were Lyn Brookes and Jane Hollis 28pts, 2nd place on
countback went to Barbara Gray and Jenny
Hamilton 27pts, 3rd were Chris Williams and Sue
Houghton 27pts and 4th Angela Anderson and Nikki
Martyn with 24pts.
Recently the Ladies Section was given a very
attractive silver Rose Bowl by Mary Rowe. It had
originally belonged to Rodney and Ryan Rowe’s
mother Marjorie Rowe who had won it in The Lady
Captain’s Prize competition in 1951. After some
discussion it was decided at the Ladies Committee
meeting on 26th November that this will be awarded
annually to the lady with the 4 best stableford scores
recorded between October and September and
presented at the Ladies AGM.
Congratulations to the Bowls, Wills and CTC teams, all safely through to their respective
Quarter Finals which will be played in the New Year.

A FEW RECOMMENDATIONS
At the cinema both “Philomena” and “Gravity” have been given great reviews from TPGC
ladies this month. Try watching “Gravity” in 3D without flinching! And if you go to the Merlin
Cinema at Redruth their meal deal gives you a choice of Main Course and your cinema ticket
for just £12.50 (£10.50 concessionary rate) – a bargain! Merlin also offers the “Movie Magic
Discount Card” which costs £7.50 for Adults and £5 for Seniors and children, with the card
adults save £2.00 and concessions £1.50 on standard admission prices for a year. The card also
entitles you to 10% off bar, restaurant and takeaway prices.
If you fancy a change from Golf why not try “Adventure Segway” at Mount Edgecombe near
Plymouth. These two wheeled personal transporters are suitable for anyone aged 10 or over,
and with a maximum speed of 8mph is great fun for all the family. Visit the website for more
