It was the battle of the Fox's, as Tehidy Park, captained by Mike Fox took on a China Fleet team captained by Mark Fox, but at the end of a gripping match it was to be the Tehidy Park 'Fox' that prevailed by a score of 3.5 – 1.5 in the match played at The Point at Polzeath.
The lead pair of Martin Trewhella & Greg Taylor got the defending champions off to a perfect start when they shook hands for a victory on the 18th green, but the score-line was instantly levelled as Nathan Hancock & Chris Hoyle went down by the same score.
Martyn Churchill & Ryan Reed put Tehidy Park back into the lead with a win on the 15th green (4&3) which was matched by the pairing of Bob Cope & David O'Mahony to give Tehidy an unassailable lead of 3 – 1. With the match won the final game on the course shook hands, sharing the spoils to produce a final score of TPGC 3.5 – 1.5 China Fleet.
The win for Tehidy Park sets up a mouth watering Quarter-Final clash with St. Enodoc, who defeated The Point at Polzeath in their match. Tehidy Park and St. Enodoc have now met in the Frank Wills Salver in three successive campaigns, with St. Enodoc winning the Final in 2013, before Tehidy Park reversed that result the following year in the Semi-Final. The decider awaits the teams in the New Year on the weekend of 10/11 January.
