On a beautiful November Sunday at the picturesque Point at Polzeath Golf Club a closely fought battle played out between Tehidy Park and Trethorne in the second round of the Frank Wills Salver.
On the back of three consecutive wins over the previous three weekends, Club Captain Mike Eddy fielded a team with enforced changes from the first round win against Newquay. In fact, until the day before the match he was to be playing himself, but a virus called for a fourth change to the original line-up.
On this occasion the Captain had to put away his victory speech, and instead congratulate the opponents as they edged the battle by a score of 3 -2.
- Martin Trewhella & Greg Taylor lost 19th
- David O'Mahony & Bob Cope lost 1 Down
- Ryan Curnow & Chris Hoyle won 3&2
- Mark Prouse & Nigel James won 1 up
- Andy Kearney & Mike Williams lost 6&4
The next match for the Club Captain, and his Cornwall Bowl team will be at Truro Golf Club on the 15th November against St. Enodoc, before the CTC team play Trevose the following weekend at Perranporth.
