Baron Rose Bowl Success

Captained by Anne Fitzhenry, the Ladies team of Lyn Brookes & Jane Hollis, Gloria Sandow & Hilary Wood, and Karen Langford & Steph Curnoe captured the prestigious County Ladies Baron Rose Bowl title, which was played at Tehidy Park last week.

The format of three pairs, playing foursomes medal, sees all scores to count in both the morning and afternoon rounds.      Led out by Gloria & Hilary the team established a sound base with a net score of 72.5. Although the pairing of Karen & Steph struggled in the morning (81) the third pairing of Lyn & Jane enabled the team average to be 73.5 after they returned a best of the day net score of 67.

Defending a handsome lead the Ladies took to the course for the afternoon with hopes high. Once again Gloria & Hilary set the team on their way with a steady round of 77.5 (no damage done there). The mother & daughter pairing of Karen & Steph bounced back from their morning disappointment to record a round of 74, and when that was further backed up by Lyn & Jane (74) to team romped to success.

The honours didn’t end there though, as the score of 67 + 74 from Lyn & Jane was good enough to secure the silverware for the best individual pairing on the day. Well done to all involved; a great achievement.

Ladies – Gammon Trophy

On a glorious day at Trevose Golf Club the Ladies of Tehidy Park secured a victory over Bude to advance to the next round of the Gammon Trophy.

Wins from Lyn Brookes, Karen Langford, Gloria Sandow and daughter Katie Sandow ensured Tehidy Park won by a score-line of 4 – 3, and now face the possibility of defending champions Truro in the next round if they overcame their opponents.

All involved in the team would like to wish Geoff Houghton well in his recovery, and extend their best wishes to Sue.
