The Cornwall Bowl team of Tehidy Park got the new Club Captain, David Ryder off to a winning start with a 4- 1 win over Falmouth Golf Club in a match played at Killiow.
In a match that was interrupted by thunder and lightning, the Tehidy Park team were eventually triumphant over a resilient Falmouth side. When play was halted Tehidy Park were in a commanding position; up in four matches, and all square in the fifth. Whilst the Falmouth team might have been hoping for continued rain, which was starting to flood the greens, the Tehidy Park Captain was desperately looking to the weather gods for the bright afternoon weather that was forecast !
His prayers worked, as the rain ceased, and blue sky dominated the scene as the teams returned to the golf course. In keeping with the weather the Tehidy Park team continued to dominate the proceedings and already possessed an unsurpassable 3 – 0 lead before Falmouth claimed a consolation point in the third match on the course. Tehidy Park eventually wrapped up a 4 – 1 win with a final point in the fifth foursome.
