The Tehidy Park Ladies Team commenced their 2017 Gammon Trophy campaign against China Fleet on a bright and breezy day over the links of Trevose Golf Club.
Two new faces stepped into the frame, with Steph Curnoe and Vice Captain of the Ladies’ section, Sue Pascoe making their debut in the team.
Leading out the team, Rachael Lloyd-Phillips gave the ladies the perfect start, winning her match on the 13th hole. Whilst it was a closer affair in match two, involving Gloria Sandow, matches three and four would also finish on the 13th hole, Lyn Newby recording a 7&5 victory and Katie Sandow winning 6&5. Added excitement, which reverberated around the course, was the fact that Katie registered a hole in one on the Par 3, 3rd hole.
Playing fifth in the order, Tehidy Park stalwart, Christine Williams was to secure the fourth and decisive point winning her match on the 14th green.
Gloria Sandow (17th), together with debutantes Steph Curnoe (14th) and Sue Pascoe (16th) securing their maiden victories, enabled Tehidy Park to complete a 7-0 winning score-line.
The second round of the Gammon Trophy will see Tehidy Park come up against St. Mellion on Sunday 16 July at a venue to be confirmed.
