The Tehidy team turned up at St. Austell Golf Club on a rare beautiful August day in defence of the Maxam Cup, which they won at Launceston last year, but were never really in contention as first, Truro took a lunch-time lead on 135 (-3), before being overhauled by Perranporth, who won the trophy for the first time with a total score of 280 (+4).
The format sees each Club field three pairs playing foursomes, off scratch, with the best two scores to count in the morning and afternoon.
Tehidy reached lunch in fifth place on 148, following scores of 74 from James Barnard & Matthew Lock, a score to be matched by Ian Veale & Rob MacGregor. The Simmons brothers, Richard & Peter would record a 75.
Tehidy improved their position to third place overall with scores of 73 from Barnard & Lock, and 70 from Veale & MacGregor (143), with a discounted score of 77 from the Simmons brothers.
Perranporth 141 + 139 = 280
Truro 135 + 152 = 287
Tehidy Park 148 + 143 = 291
