Rob MacGregor is the sole survivor from Tehidy Park Golf Club in today’s quarter-final line-up as he goes head to head with the defending champion and county colleague Conor Wilson.
Round 1 saw MacGregor account for home favourite Jon Coleman, before comfortably defeating Paul Suddes in the afternoon.
James Barnard put up a heroic effort against Wilson in the first round, eventually losing 1 down, but can be hugely proud of pushing the defending champion all the way.
Club Captain, Peter Simmons ground out a one-hole victory in the first round against Rod Handyside of West Cornwall before mounting his challenge against County player Aaron Stephens in round two. A great game ensued with both players under par after 18 holes and nothing to separate them. To the 19th they would go, the par 3 first hole, and both players would find the green with their tee shots. A narrow miss from Simmons gave Stephens the opportunity to win the game, and when he holed from 12 feet for a birdie two he would book his place in today’s quarter-final matches.
Also today the B Team Championship will re-commence at the Q/F stage which will see the Tehidy Park team in action……. we wish them well
