Report from the Captain of the Ladies Section

I started this report with the second paragraph stating that the weather was a problem.  Little did I know.   We have had to suspend the fun competitions and you will see below the other competitions that have been affected.  We will consider the April Medal in a week or so as it may be possible to organise this with Anne receiving the names of people wanting to play, setting it up online etc.  But we will go into that later

It has been a very difficult month as far as golf is concerned but we managed to play the Sense of Humour in appalling weather.  We did all 18 holes but it could not be a qualifier as the bunkers were GUR. It was won by Pat Mitchell Firth

The Medal and Rose Bowl was due to be played on 3 March but as the course bunkers were GUR it became a non qualifier and as such the Rose Bowl element had to be cancelled and we have made provision for the Rose Bowl to be played on the 7th April alongside medal and Hitchens qualifier.   This now may or may not go ahead. The Australian Spoons due to be played 14th will also have to be considered

The ladies invitation Coffee Morning was a great success as you will see from the treasurers report. We made a substantial amount and were also able to donate to the captains’ charity.  The game was won by Sue Houghton and Jo Body.   I would like to thank all of you for your help and donations and to thank Jean for her generous donation of bracelets and to Kim for the cake stall wrapping provisions, Penny for St Austell golf Voucher, Cath for Tregenna Golf Vouchers and Trish for lesson with Wayne and head cover from Hayle driving range.  We will send letters thanking people who made the donations that we cannot thank personally.  Also a letter of thanks will go to the Greenkeepers and the kitchen and bar staff.

Unfortunately the County Champs have been cancelled and the Annodata and League matches postponed/suspended

There was a delegates meeting at Merlin on the 19th February and Angela will put the minutes up in the changing room.   There are two vacant posts within the CLCGA and the information is also in the changing room

Green Committee – We are looking into extra drainage on the 14th. There are also going to be trees planted on the right-hand side of the 18th hole.  There are also plans for all bunkers to be completed/renovated and have new sand by the Centenary year.

General Committee – the Captain was going to an auction to bid for some trees. Also the Green Staff need two new machines for the upkeep of the course and are getting quotes

Centenary – I was unable to attend but work was moving on with ideas.
